Nestled in the Foothills…
These whiskies come to New York as the result of a creative solution to a distillery’s desire to come into being. Virginia Distillery Company, a new distillery based in Virginia’s Nelson County and currently barreling Virginia-made single-malt whisky for future bottling, has partnered with genius Scotch whisky distiller Jim McEwan of Bruichladdich in Islay, Scotland to create a proprietary, highly-limited bottling of “double malt” Scotch whiskies. these are combinations of individual single malts from complementary distilleries in the same region of Scotland, designed to highlight a given region’s defining characteristics by creating a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Before being vatted together, each single malt is finished in a different wine cask chosen to round out and complement the features of that malt.
