The Meaning of “Manatawny”

History has handed down to us a lot of special places in and around Philadelphia—places brimming with natural beauty.

In the Northwestern suburbs sits Montgomery County, home to communities as important to the history of this country as any others—the Revolution, the Civil War, industrialization—significant change and progress happened in this part of the country. And it’s happening again.

An 18.2-mile-long tributary of the mighty Schuylkill River cuts through the countryside and has become home to a winery, a brewery and, now, a distillery. First named by the Lenape Indians Man’en’tau’wata’wik, “the place we meet to drink,” and it means the same to us today.

Manatawny Still Works is a state-of-the-art distiller of the highest quality,
small-batch spirits handcrafted right on the same banks where the natives
once drank.
